Simple and honest young man, Kim Sun-myung. He chooses to
side on North Korean fascinated by the propaganda that says
everybody can be well equally.
He gets arrested by UN force in 1951 and first sentenced 15
years in prison then next sentenced execution then again, the
sentence reduced to life imprisonment.
During the course of his trip from this prison to there and
to another place, he meets new inmates and they all are imprisoned
leftists who wait for the unification of Korean peninsula -
their only chance to be free.
One day, to the compound that Kim Sun-myung is imprisoned,
ruthless and inhumane prison guard Oh Tae-sik is deployed
and becomes in charge of leftist prisoners.
From then on, Oh uses unimaginably cruel and outrageous methods
to force them into give up their communism ideology and sign
the conversion statement.
Unable to take Oh's animal like treatment any more, some give
up and sign the statement, kill themselves and go insane.
But Kim Sun-myung, even though he knows that his life can
change by one signature on the statement, he resist until
the end taking all the pain..
